Moms Against Racism and Injustice (MARI) was created during a dynamic and turbulent time in our history (June 2020), when racial injustice peaked and could no longer be tolerated or silenced. MARI is a group of individuals who share the expressed urgency of becoming a catalyst for change within our local communities; our goal to improve and eliminate social divisions and discrimination, and ultimately aid in creating an environment where all people regardless of race or color know they are valued.
In response to this crisis, MARI became a forum and safe space where ideas could be shared, inspired, exchanged and executed. A mission of educational reform, shifts in race perceptions and implicit bias, elimination of racial inequalities, and an ultimate goal of furthering inclusivity and diversity has become our driving force. Ultimately, if we are to move forward from systemic racism, racial bias and racial inequality, then we must first change the perception through education.
